An Introduction (Rant)

First of all, if you've found yourself here, what kind of Internet are you using that enabled you to find actual human, off-the-cuff, enthusiast, non-slop, written content that isn't concerned about building a following or monetization? I want to use that Internet too!

If you're a human, and not some AI bot scraping the net so people can fake like they know stuff for their jobs, I'm glad you're here. Sincerely.

I started this blog as a sort of pathetic, lazy protest that I can do in my underwear. You see, I've started to feel quite disenfranchised about the Internet. A place I used to love being on. The modern Internet just feels... dead. It feels overly concerned with commerce. Where have people's voices gone? Oh right, social media. Yeah well, what if I don't want to watch people sitting in their cars trying to bait my rage or engagement so they can get paid by platforms that want to see us all turn into the people from Wall-E?

Also, I think people need to read more. I get it, the Internet SUCKS to read. You can't go a paragraph without at least 23 advertisements, animating across your screen. Headlines that trick you to clicking through to articles that are generated by AI. It all sucks. This goes back to the pathetic, lazy protesting I mentioned earlier. Here I am, defying the Internet way of things. A WHOLE PAGE OF JUICY WORDS, WITH NOT A SINGLE AD.

This will date me, but I come from a time when the Internet was well-populated with... personal weblogs.

Those that remember those times, surely feel the same pangs of nostalgia that I do. Being able to stumble upon the personal musings of random strangers, at their most raw. And you can could reasonably assume that these people weren't holding back, because the Internet was a lot simpler then in that it was easier to be anonymous. These days, Internet sleuths can find out who you are from a picture of your toenails. Go ahead and post your toenails for the Internet if you don't believe me. Yeah, I thought so.

It's in that spirit of "anonymity" that I wish to post here. I have no stakes, and my takes will be lukewarm at best so chances are low I will be cancelled so it's not that I'm scared of consequences. Honestly, I'm not actively trying to hide my identity either. I just want to remove inhibitions and assume the role of bloggers in days gone by. A random stranger being raw.

So say you are enticed by this for some reason and have decided that yes, you wish to become a CapStan™, what can you expect from this blog? Well, what you just read. Except each post might possibly be more focused on an actual topic. Or maybe not. Who knows? I don't, I can't see the future.

That said, this is a personal blog, and a person is defined by their belongings influence bank account balance passions passions? So it's fair to say I'll have a lot of thoughts to share about things like anime, manga, comic books, video games, movies, music, and hate-scrolling the Internet.

Hope to have you stick around!
